A fire that started industrial area of the City and spread rapidly brought us out. We responded the first night about six hours into the incident and work during the night hours assisting in fighting the fire. We returned a day later to assist with pumping to ladder trucks to put out hot spots. Many say it was the largest fire they have ever seen and it is the biggest fire on record to ever happen in Niagara County.

Collins announces $88,858 grant for Adams Fire Co.

Congressman Chris Collins today announced $88,858 in federal funding for Adams Fire Co. in Wheatfield. The grant was allocated through the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which is designed to help first responders improve their capability to respond to fires and emergencies of all types.

"Our local heroes need the proper resources to do their jobs and protect our communities," Collins said. "Many fire companies and emergency medical service providers are unable to purchase necessary equipment upgrades due to financial limitations. This funding will help create more efficient and effective first responders, and I am honored to help Adams Fire Co. secure this vital funding."

"This funding will allow the Adams Fire Co. to purchase 36 sets of new protective turnout gear," Fire Chief Chris Pino said. "This important equipment will help keep our firefighters safe as they protect our local residents, and will allow us to continue providing the best possible service to our community. We appreciate Congressman Collins' assistance and look forward to working with him again in the future to support our local fire departments."

The AFG program provides direct funding assistance to first-responder organizations to obtain needed emergency response equipment, personal protective equipment, training and firefighting/emergency vehicles.
